My moon roof will only open not close. Motor or switch? How do you get the switch cluster near the rear view mirror open for inspection. Any Ideas would be appreciated.... DCM

dmc, does the moonroof move at all? or just short clicks foward? its possible its not synchornized. try moving the switch to the vent postion instead of close. if its just that part of the switch, then this should close it. its probably not the motor since it opens it. but its always a possibilty.

RE: 1999 E430 Sport Moon Roof

Thanks for the response. It will not close. Its open 6" right now but when I try to close it , it does nothing no noise no movement no nothing. But it opens fine. I just dont want to open it any further. I have to travel in this car next weekend. Is there any way to "hotwire" the window to close? DCM

RE: 1999 E430 Sport Moon Roof

you could, "hot wire" it, but theres no need. you should have a piece of metal, shaped like a z. its a special tool provide for just such an occasion. its most likely in your trunk, but look around, it could be anywhere in your car. check your owners manual, it will give you instructions on how to close it manually. i really cant remember off the top of my head for your model. ill look into it tomorrow and post another reply on how to remove your dome light assembly.
