Our EBAY car arrived last evening---Let me tell you.....

We are soooo disappointed and upset. The car is so far from the advertised condition. It WAS in an accident, it is NOT in "excellent condition", it's only flaw IS NOT a crack in the wood on the dash, there ARE dings, dents, scratches, On and on and on and on.

I have contacted the seller for a refund. Hopefully we can get past this HORRIBLE experience real soon.

Boy, we had plans for this 1985 500 SEL. We just can't afford costly repairs to an advertised "excellent condition" vehicle.

Shame on us for trusting someone.
Shame on him for taking advantage.

Any suggestions?

Bob

RE: Our EBAY car arrived last evening---Let me tell you.....

Ebay does have a resolution program/process – you’ve done the first step by contacting the seller, if he does not want negative feed back he needs to resolve the problem, OTOH he may not give a damn about feed back. It would not be a bad idea to contact eBay as well with the problem.

Bottom line: eBay is the wild, wild west of the free market place – unless you can inspect the car yourself or hire an inspection company to do it for you, don’t buy cars off of eBay.

Bob.

A pre-purchase inspection is always
a good idea.
If it is difficult to perform this
inspection yourself(due to distance)
You can use this service:

http://pages.motors.ebay.com/services/inspection/inspection.html

It cost $95, altough not fool proof it
can save you a pocket full of $$$$$.

If this person/business is a powerseller
then you might have a long up hill battle,
as these powersellers get a privilaged
treatment and get away with alot.

This is only as an example but is a totally
different situation.
Do a search for bigbabbo, benzbaron or
importbaron on the MS forum.
You'll get some interesting reading.
Or you can just look for the posts of TomJ

Good luck and keep us posted.

Hey Lou, I take exception to your post. I am a powerseller, and take great pride in giving the customer what he wants. I have sold one car and bought one car from ebay. The buy car was not a pleasant experience, and was a costly lesson.

If a powerseller gets negative feedback, he won't be a powerseller for long.

RE: Our EBAY car arrived last evening---Let me tell you.....

MRTIKKET.

Maybe I should have put it in a different
context.
Basicly what is happening is that some
"powersellers" due to their experience
with the ebay rules are manipulating these
rules in such away that they can have
NEG feedback removed and twist words
as to make a buyer or seller look really bad,
this way ebay removes/suspends that seller/
buyer.

Just read what TomJ went thru and he really
did nothing wrong.Look for his original post.

Original post.

I do understand that not all sellers are/behave
in this way but it is easy to defraud people and
if packaged the righ way you can take away
someones income/extra income.
But if you take this Bigbabbo as an example
then you get a feeling that as a innocent
buyer you mean nothing to ebay.
Just by the language in the feedback this person leaves when receiving NEG feedback, should be grounds enough to cut him from ebay, but he's
still selling and uses different user names too.

RE: Our EBAY car arrived last evening---Let me tell you.....

MRTIKKET.

Just as info.

This person started as bigbabbo.
Up until Aug-04-03 4047 Pos feedback
This is taken from feedback for benzbaron.

ALSO SELLS AS BIGBABBO WHO HAS 63 NEG FEEDBACKS--------------BUYER BEWARE !!!!!
Buyer feltonw ( 6 ) Aug-04-03 18:23 2424777682
Reply by benzbaron: bigbabbo has 4047 positives and 63 idiots not a bad

This is taken from ebay at 11:15 PM
Oct-02-04, you can check if you like.

Member Profile: bigbabbo (4)

As you can see 4 feedback listings?
What happend to the other 4043?

This is Neg feed back left for importbaron.
The two marked with an X are feed back from
different buyers but yet he uses it to belittle
the buyer who left the Neg feedback.
Just look at the tone this seller uses.
Yet nothing is done.

PAYMENT SENT---NOTHING RECEIVED---DOESN'T ANSWER 5 EMAILS SENT---THEIVES!!!!!!!!

Reply by importbaron: THAT ALBERTAN ABOVE HERE IS AN ABSOLUTE TERMINAL LIAR! HE IS NUTS!

As you can see.
If you play your card right then you can
get away with alot of crap on ebay.

To all a good night, bed time for me.

Get a lawyer. Some states have laws that require the seller to let you know in writing that the car has been in an accident.

Did it show an accident on the Carfax report, if you ran one?

RE: Our EBAY car arrived last evening---Let me tell you.....

I did run a CARFAX prior to buying. It came out smelling like roses. I guess CARFAX is a questionable source for accidents that are repaired by "shoemakers". Shame on EBAY for allowing this to happen.
