'85 300td Clock Question

I just bought an immaculate 85 300td w only 79000 miles from the original owner! It's beautiful.

Only one thing doesn't work - the clock in the instrument cluster. I know the fuse works, because the other items assigned to that particulare fuse are working.

The clock worked until yesterday, when I reset it. What's the trick?

RE: '85 300td Clock Question

There are a couple of possible fixes for the clock. First, the ground (earth) for the clock is a solder joint and that may have cracked or split enough over time to break the circuit. Second, there is a capacitor known to fail after a decade or so . . . check this website for details
