Firing it up

I am new here and I am really happy that i found a forum like this. I was looking for something like this for a while.

I own a 89 MB 300SE It works great exept for two things. WHen I start up it fires up right away and then shuts off. I start the ignition again and it catches for a little bit, with very low RPMs and then shuts off, by the third time it starts slow and then increases in RPMs. The thing is it only does this when it has been sitting for a a few hours. I thought it was a dirty fuel filter, and I even replaced the fuel pump, so it has to be a minor adjustment, I hope. Thanks for any help

RE: Firing it up

I had a similar problem with mine. I would have to hold the gas peddle down a little just to keep the car on and then feed it gas when it catches or the car would shake and then turn off if I didn't give it gas. I did what your starting to do which is play the guessing game. Don't change a thing unless u know for sure what it is. I figured it out after $300 worth af parts. I almost cried when I found out it was only the fuse in the ovp that was burned out and as soon as I replaced it, the problem was gone. The mb techs at the dealer got me for all sorts of parts up to $400 and I ended up figuring it out myself. U might have the same problem. Check your ovp (over voltage protection) and see if your fuse is blown. Mine is located behind the battery. U have to peel back the cover which is behind the Battery to find it. Good luck.
