radio codes

i bought a radio off the internet, but instead of the codes, they gave me the vin # to the car...how can i get the radio codes off that? can anyone here look it up for me?

If you have the vin number you can call the dealer to give you the radio code ...

But here is the trick ... the dealer will not give you the code unless you prove you own the vehicle with the given vin number [:(][:(]

I guess you need to ask the guy who sold you the radio to either look for books (come with the car) or contact the dealer himself (assuming he owns the car).

actually my dealer gave me the code no problem...just wasnted me to come in in person for some reason. thanks! all is well now.

Humm... I do believe you but it sounds weird to me ... the idea of radio code is to prevent the radio from stolen (actually from being used again if stolen). If this is the case, people could steel radio from any benz and note the vin number and dealer would give it to them [?][?]

Hi,I bought radio code cracker off the internet.I like you thought that resale of stolen goods was supposed to be target,but dealer radio codes are included,Blaupunkt included,in setup I bought

That actualy makes it more thief-proof - if radio is reported stolen i am sure police would like to talk to you when you show up at dealership. Only better solution would be to setup radio decode office in the same building where county jail is.

Kirill ... would all dealers be noticed when the radio stolen??? Also, what if people bought it "hot" and didn't know? Schuters could have done that ...

any radio can be decoded which is the best and cheapest method if you buy a replacement, when did you ever check the radio was legal when you baught a car unless it was new the car that is[:)], vin radio calculators cost mega bucks its not just a softwear program[?]

didn't say i was clever enough to work this out but this is part of what i bought for a few pounds,specificaly the Blaupunkt
