Fuel Distributors..How do they work..mine doesn't....
I have a 1986 560SEL which a couple of weeks ago died on the road suddenly. It had occasionally died in traffic before but always restarted fine. This time it cranks without a single sputter of life.
Checked spark, okay. Checked fuel pump relay and pump connections and pressure to the fuel distributor, okay. Checked fuel at injector connections, nothing.
I have 126 service manuals on CD but not a single page discusses how the distributor works. Is there something driven by whirring shaft or vacumn power to check?
Interestingly, if the car sets a few days, I get an initial sputter out of it as if some fuel weeps over time down to the injectors but after that..nothing.
If anybody has some hints for me, it would be well appreciated. Thanks in advance.
