Diamond Fusion?

I am picking up my new car next week. The dealer offered me a whole bunch of after-market upgrades (lowjack, satellite radio, extra insurance ...). Among them was one that sounded interesting: for $300 they can put some funky coating on the windshields that will:

- make the ice not stick on the glass
- make the rain easily slide off of the glass
- make the glass more durable

I think the marketing name is Diamond Fusion.
Do any of you guys gave it? Does it work? Does the windshield get a strange color or spots from the coating that would be visible either by naked eye or w/ polarized sun-glasses?

Thank you.

RE: Diamond Fusion?

My quick and dirty research suggests a bottle of Rain-X will do the same thing, though it does look like good science. They advertise that they are a high-profit sales enhancer for dealers. All the best from one who has been burned by the snake-oil add-on new car giddy experience.

RE: Diamond Fusion?

Oh yeah. Depending on the price, satellite radio is an absolute hoot. I bought an XM Roady 2 and had to give it to my wife because I was volunteering for too many errands so I could listen to Deep Tracks and ACC football.
