ML 270 Clicking noise in right hand turns??

Hi
I have just bought a used 2001 ML270 68000 miles, and I noticed that in right-hand turns there is a clicking noise from somewhere in the drive chain behind and below the driver seat, it's not present in left-hand turns, sounds mechanically generated, do I have a problem or is this common?

Thanks
Brian

RE: ML 270 Clicking noise in right hand turns??

If the noise is cyclic and changes with the speed you should have the constant velocity joints checked. These are the flex joints between the differential and the half axle shafte that end at the wheel hub.

Take a quick peek under the vehicle to make sure the rubber boots are intact while you are at it. If the boots ever get torn and dirt gets mixed into the grease it could cause accelerated wear on the joints inner races. A recently replaced boot might mean a torn boot was replaced after the damage was done too.

Potato Chip, custom canuter valve, low-friction muffler bearings, synthetic turn signal fluid, Hi-Definition Progressive Scan Wiper Blades.
Law-makers are supposed to regulate in the interest of the public as opposed to regulating in the interest of the regulated party.
If it says Pratt and Whitney on the outside it better say Martin Baker on the inside.
