Trying to find new car

Ok well I’m horribly saddened; today is the 2nd day I live without my first and favorite car. My beauty was an '84 300D. Reliable, easy to maintain (due to my father teaching me the mechanics on his '80 300SD), and classy. Please, I need help. Can someone suggest which models and years I should search for and which I should stay away from? I am inclined to stay with a diesel but I am open-minded so don't let that stop any suggestions. I would like to stay within the years '84 to '93. Unfortunately, finding my silver 300D was one of the last gifts my father left me. Since he has passed, I have lost much, including a solid foundation of Mercedes information. Any help would be appreciated. I am particularly concerned about reliability so any info on recurrent issues involving a particular year or model would be of great help. Thanks!
David

Sorry to hear your story ... from what you were saying ... I suggest you get another 84' 300D. It would mean more than just a car.

RE: Trying to find new car

memories are all we have of our family and anything to bring the feeling back is worth more than money, my heart breaks when i think of my dad who slipped away in 1974 so i allays remember that pain but we have to move on, i will die one day and join my father " mother is still alive and i wouldn't want to go before her" but i recon hell is here on earth and i cant wait to go beyond

RE: Trying to find new car

Finding an '84 300D in sound mechanical condition is somewhat difficult to accomplish so i appreciate the very thoughtful and wise advice, but considering it took my father a good amount of time to find a somewhat aesthetically and mechanically sound used car for a reasonable price I would like to be aware of all my options. Thank you again
