To AMG or NOT TO AMG......

Hello everyone. Just thought I get some opinions of what I should do next.

Heres the situation, a couple of days ago my 2005 C230K Sedan (3 weeks old) was vandalised. Parts of my C230 trunk emblem and Kompressor emblem were stolen. It now reads C 0 K M RES R. I didnt find it funny at all, but I guess whoever did it finds it funny.

Well, I'm not sure what I should do next. Should I

1-Debadge it completely
2-Replace badges
3-Replace badges with C55 and AMG emblem.

Im thinking more of #3 since I have to get new badges anyway if I replace them. Does anyone think that would be stupid? Your opinions matter. Thanks for your help everyone.

Option two: replace with original badges. Don’t try to make your car something it is not. [:)]

I think it all depends. If theres alot of Mercedes enthusiasts, I would opt to either debadge or replace with originals.

But if theres very little Mercedes owners, what the heck, Go for it. No one would know.

Whatever makes you feel better about it. [:D]

i would not go with option 3 either, option 2 is the best but if they are taken again the i would go for option 1..
option 3 will only draw the speedy boys and girls to race you and you wont be able to keep up therefore it would be degrading, option 1 says nothing and a lot it makes them guess[:)]

Good point Teky! But I dont know anyone who owns a real AMG vehicle that would debadge thier own car. I would automatically guess that a debadged car is the lowest model and the owner is embarrassed about it.

Just replace them with originals. Thats my opinion.

Yeah, people (I know at least me) will know if the car is not a true AMG so don't use option #3 unless you have to modify a lot more like brakes, exhaust, ... just to name a few. Opt for option #1 or #2 would be wiser.

RE: To AMG or NOT TO AMG......

IN europe they take off the badges of the high end cars to make them look like low end cars, but in some countries they take the badges off the low end cars to make them look like high end cars,..... go figure[:)]

To avoid vandalism go for option 1, otherwise just go for 2 and risk having it done again. DO NOT GO FOR THE C55 logo, it makes you car look cheap, but go for the AMG logo if you like, only hte real enthusiasts would be able to tell the difference.[;)]

RE: To AMG or NOT TO AMG......

Agreed, replace orginal, I had this discussion with lots of Merc owners. I breifly considered removing the C off my C55 AMG, my thought was its just a C class, that was before I was a Merc owner, now that I am I am extensively proud of my Badges, and of the overall C class line.

I have heard and seen proof of basic class replacing, rims with AMG, exhaust, tinted brake light covers, and badging, but how disapointed are they when people ask and or get smoked by a non AMG competitor on the street.

go with the orginal

RE: To AMG or NOT TO AMG......

I'm going to agree with most people here and say to stick with options 1 or 2.

By the way, my AMG had the trunk debadged when I bought it used. It had the 32 and the AMG removed leaving only the SLK. I finished the job and removed the SLK and the V6 Kompressor on the sides. I figured I would try on the AMG badge again, and I rather liked it. Then I decided to replace the SLK32, that still looks a little off to me.

Not that it really matters, most people don't know what AMG is anyway.
