Engine Fault Codes

Can anyone tell me what this means to me:

P0170 and P0173 - Fuel Trim Malfunction
it is a 1999 ML 320

thanks for that! I did just changed the air filter, so maybe that caused it..

would there be any problem running a can of injector cleaner through the system?? any recommendations?

that sounds like a good idea but add it to the fuel tank and not direct in to the system like some products you can get, use redx or similar injection cleaner product

FInally had the fuel trim codes diagnosed at my BMW/MB shop...air mass sensor is going bad, it'll be 350 USD for a repalcment (just the part!)

upps its a maf sensor on the ml so no vacuum pipe just air flow, it requires a clean out, use break/carb cleaner spray only dont touch the elements

thanks, i'll go and do that right now...the cheapest i could find a new one is 285.

I'll try cleaning it up first!
