New Member looking for AMG car

Hey everyone. I am new here and I have been searching all over for a new AMG car but I don't know which one to get or the reliablity of them. I am leaning to the CL55. I really like the SL55 but the sedan style of the CL55 is more suited for what I am looking for. I have been searching for a nice one and I came across this site and they have some forums there. They have one for sale but I don't know if it is a good price or not. Their site all about tuner cars but it is so new that there isn't much info about the AMG yet. If you guys could help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks.

RE: New Member looking for AMG car

Generally spaeking the CL (C215) is a better built car than the SL (R230). Mainly because the C215 has been in production longer and has had all the gremlins worked out. Don't get me wrong, the R230 is a extremely well built car and is an amazingly fun & riveting drive, but speaking from experience the 215 is the one to go for. (I own a 03 CL600 biturbo)

What to look for, use alot of common sense when looking for a car, and make sure you drive it. If you feel that somethig is not right, walk away, there are alot of cars to chose form out there, and nothing is more expensive to fix than a busted AMG!! Also stay well clear from even a slightly modified car since that is a clue as to what then intentions of the previous owner were (most likely has been driven quite hard). Most importnantly, get the car checked by a qualified mechanic (prefferably someone you know & trust) and also get the vehicles history checked.

Almost all 55's have a common problem, and that is a sqweeking noise form the supercharger, easily fixed (and widely discussed in this forum).

Also try to go for a C215 built in or after 2003 since it got minor cosmetic changes (facelift), and will sell better than a non facelifted older model car.

Hope I helped in some way. If you need more help regarding the CL (C215) send me a PM.

Hopefully a R230 owner will also answer on this forum and will provide some insight from a SL owners point of view as well.
