I'm thinking of upgrading from a 190 to a c-class, and this poses a question in my mind as i prepare to sell my 190:

what are some things i could add on to the car that would cost me less than the value they would add to the car (thus giving me a higher selling price)

for example:
say i added on new tires for 300 bucks, would that add more or less than 300 hundred to the car's value.
or...say i added new specialty rims to the car for 700 bucks, and sold my old rims (and tires) for 300 bucks. would i be adding more than 400(700-300) dollars value to the car?

(these number are arbitrary)

also, has anyone had experience with ebay? pricewise, would i be getting more cash for my car than if i sold in the classifieds?(i guess my question is are prices on ebay a bit inflated? because they seem that way to me)

RE: additions

Don’t “add anything to the car – it won’t have an impact on the final selling price. Sell on a classified – hardcopy or online – eBay’s ok but it’s a crapshoot; cars tend to sell less on eBay than classifieds. I tried selling a car on eBay – never got to the reserve. I got my asking price when I sold it on Auto Trader.
