Retractable Roof Issues
I'm new to the group! So I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Chris Bradley and I own a 1992 500SL with 32,000 KM blackberry in color..;0) Recently purchased from 3 Point Motors in Victoria BC where I live.
I have checked the achieves and can't see any previous treads on the question or topic; I'm about to ask.
My 500SL has roof locking issues. The top comes up and down but 50% of the time doesn't engage the front locking mechanism latches. Until I softly push on the top to help the mechanism engage and completes the roof cycle.
I have mentioned this to my dealer and brought it in for service and diagnoses once previously. I've made another appointment next week to relook at the issue and hopefully solve it. They've commented this is a know problem. Also mentioning; it maybe because of the newness of the roof and it needs more time to break in. I'm only guessing but the roof original and the car only has 32,000 km. I assume it should have broken in already.
Either way!!! Touching the roof 50% of the time to get it to close is unacceptable. The Car only has 32,000 km on it or 20000 miles it's practically new.
Has anyone else had this problem with their retractable roof not engaging the front clamps and completing and how did you solve it?
Thanks for any help!
