RE: Near disaster when Fuel Pressure Regulator failed in S320 CDI
we have a 2000 E320CDI.
we don't have the problem you describe, but we do have another one:
these engines have an exhaust gas recycling thing going on. this means that a part of the exhaust gas is going back to the inletmanifold. on long term this causes the inlet to be stuffed with 'dirt' (grease...) from the exhaust gasses that come through there. as a result, at full trottle, the engine can't get enough air to match the amount of fuel being injected. the car smokes like hell, and goes into 'emergency-run' when applying full trottle in 'D'.
I'm very interested in the problems that these cars have. Maybe you can describe how you experience the fault, what the engine does, does it cut out completely, can you restart and drive on?...etc.
