AC whistle noise

I drive my 2000 E-320 without the radio on most days, and when the AC is on I hear a slight whistling sound coming from it. If I turn the AC off the noise stops, so I know it's coming from the AC vents. Is there anything I should do or could lubricate to stop that whistling noise??

Thanks Much,
BobB

RE: AC whistle noise

check for leaves lodged in the air intake and vents, nothing to lubricate in there otherwise

RE: AC whistle noise

If it is a whistle noise coming from the center vent, then that would mean your freon is low, and there is a leak in the system somewhere, if you don't get it checked out, then eventually you will have nothing in the system, and it could do damage to the compressor. It's the freon whooshing through the evaporator that you are hearing, it won't make that noise if the system is fully charged.
I get that complaint a lot at work, and it is always the same thing. Always W210.
