Hello, im hoping someone here is a smart mechanic that can help me out :-)
My quick diagnosis is that its a bad CPS. Let me know what you think.
I have a 1999 CLK 430. For the past 2 weeks when ever the engine gets hot and I turn it off. It wont start till it gets cool again. It will turn over fine, just never catches. Now for the first time a few days ago, when I was on the freeway it lost all HP and died. Waited about an hour with the hood open for it to cool. Started back up. Drive a little bit at a stop light, it dies again. It does that at a stop light for about 4 times. Each time I need to wait for it to cool off.
Keep in mind the actual engine temp is normal. But it seems its just when it gets hot enough it makes what ever problem I have get worse. As most electronics will do when hot.
Any ideas? As I said, I think it might be the crankshaft position sensor.
If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.
