FLASHING HEADLIGHTS

I have a 1993 190 E 2.6

My headlights are now intermittently flashing like it is some sort of warning signal. I can hear the click which seems to be controlling this from under the glove box in the passenger seat. What is it and how do I fix it? I am not sure the other drivers appreciate my lights blinking at them continusously as I drive. Please help.

RE: FLASHING HEADLIGHTS

Sounds like a faulty relay to me.

RE: FLASHING HEADLIGHTS

Same thing happened to my 89 190 2.6. It is a relay in the alarm system. The Alarm flasher is under the floorboard on the passenger side, that is why you hear it near the glovebox.
If you don't want to replace it, disable it by disconnecting, or you just close all doors, lock and then unlock the doors from the driver's side. You'll find that the flashing will occur if you are opening (unlocking) the car from the trunk or passenger door. You'll have to resign yourself to always unlocking the doors and trunk from the driver's side.

RE: FLASHING HEADLIGHTS

it could be but the alarm is normally connected to the flasher/indicators not the head lights unless its an after market alarm

RE: FLASHING HEADLIGHTS

I had the same problem with my R129 and its indicator, the problem finally fixed itself, the guys at the dealer just scratched their heads everytime I went there. I guess the heat had something to do with it.

Hopefully your problem is a simple relay or something similar.

Good Luck.[8D]
