RE: MB Pet Peeves
Ok, I have to chime in here...
I drive a '91 BMW 325i cabrio and the better half drives the '89 420sel I just bought her. Both are in excellant shape. And yes, we both are very courteous drivers.
One of the reasons it's so easy to spot a fake BMW M car is the fenders - the M series have the wider fenders. And BMW went a step further, especially with the rear fenders, to design them where you just can't weld on M rear quarter panels onto a non-M car - the trunk lines won't match. Yea, you can get badges, etc., but the fenders tell all...
I've always tried to live "to each his own", but myself I would feel to much like a fake trying to badge my cars different than they are. I look at it as: I can see how great my 325i is so now I have a goal to someday get a older M3 Cabrio - a rare, lofty goal to shoot for. That's one way we better ourselves - set goals.
Now that I bought the 420sel, I'm getting the Benz bug - starting to notice the different models, yadda, yadda, yadda - y'know what I mean. Now one more area I will want to better myself (chuckle).[:D]
Anyway, just my .02 cents worth...
