grill badges

probably a newbie question, but oh well...

I always see grill badges on M-B's driving around town, but don't know what they mean. So what are they?

Places traveled?
For Mileage?
Year Produced?
Model???

thanks

RE: grill badges

that clears things up, thanks, but one more question that isnt well addressed in that thread:

is it 150,000 miles or 145,000 miles for the first badge (b/c I qualify for one, and not the other[:)]!)

I know that 250,000 km equals about 155,000 miles, and they also say its at 250,000 km!

so what is it???

RE: grill badges

It’s 155,000 miles for the first badge, and many owners of the older cars are at that level now and could apply!

312,500 mules for the second badge – that’s a little more difficult to reach.

RE: grill badges

Any Benz should reach 155K miles unless it's totaled. Many Diesels will see 310k. 620k is another story. That will probably (not necessarily) require tranny and engine replacement.

RE: grill badges

If not abused and well cared-for a diesel Mercedes can reach one million-km w/o a rebuild/replacement of the transmission or engine.

RE: grill badges

The type of driving can make a big difference. I heard there was a guy from Georgia who drove a Chevy pickup V8 (Gas) 600 miles a day (Atlanta to SC to TN and back every day)for deliveries (weekly oil change) for six years until he reached 930,000 miles. GM traded his truck for a new one to do research. His engine showed the wear and tear of a typical engine with 80,000 miles. If I remember correctly, his transmission was rebuilt once. With that type of driving a MB Diesel could probably reach 2,000,000 miles.

301,000 miles and the motor and tranny have never been touched.
