Missing Model Numbers on Imported MB?

Hi,

When importing a used Mercedes-benz car from Germany, some times it comes without the model number (e.g. E 320) on its rear.

Does that mean any thing? (for example, it was a rental car, Taxi??)

Thanks

Thank you for your update, but I do not think this is the reason for that!

An option on Porsche vehicles is to omit the model designation.

Is it possible that MB offers that option in Europe and that the vehicles in question have that option?

RE: Missing Model Numbers on Imported MB?

1) It is actually an option from the factory to debadge it, especially on higher models like 450SEL 6.9's etc... I'd imagine other models too.

2) "wealth whispers" that's why some people order that option or remove it themselves. There's a lot to be said about mystery and be unlike the domestic american cars that advertise abs, traction control and V6 all the time LOL. All you have to do is bondo the holes out and repaint that area. I work at a body shop and we've done that to some Hondas.

Hope this helps.

I just purchased a 2002 SL 500 AMG that was special ordered, one of the items being un-badged.

My special order '05 C class is not available with model number deletion. The dealer will have that option added, if it becomes available prior to the cutoff, or they offered to remove it, no charge, so it would appear as though it were never there.
