Sorry...message in this post...hit return by mistake

which model of Mercedes does the carburetted M115 engine appear in the most frequently? I have a 1980 230G and almost no one else has one of these so my tech questions don't always find a ready reply...any guidance for a common use of this engine will help with sourcing parts and help!
Thanks
George

Hi,

The M115 was mostly seen in the 230 sedan, both W115 and W123 chassis. IIRC
both use the "Stromberg" carb, so parts for your G should be fairly easy to track down.

I never knew they made a W115, are you sure its not the W114? The S classes were the W108 and 116 at the time, so Im assuming the W114 is the forerunner to the E class. Please correct me if im wrong.

RE: Which model uses M115 engine?

Hi,

Basically it breaks down to this:

W115 -- four cylinder gas and diesel, five cylinder diesel

W114 -- six cylinder gas

They are physically identical, and were essentially the "E" class of the late 60's - mid 70's. (1968 - 1976)
