Dear Mercedes-Benz fans, rFyh2M
Please read the affixed article.
From today's New York Times:
Daimler Board Blocks Protégé of Troubled Chief

DaimlerChrysler's chief executive, Jürgen E. Schrempp, survived a critical board meeting yesterday, a week after the board rejected his proposal that the company bail out its struggling Japanese partner, Mitsubishi Motors.

But a top protégé of Mr. Schrempp did not survive. The board decided that Wolfgang Bernhard, the chief operating officer of the Chrysler division, would not take control of the company's crown jewel, Mercedes, as he had been scheduled to do tomorrow.

The abrupt sidelining of Mr. Bernhard, DaimlerChrysler's fastest rising star, shocked company employees, financial analysts and the auto industry. Some compared the move to Henry Ford II's ouster of Lee Iacocca, the future chief executive of Chrysler, as president of the Ford Motor Company in 1978.

The company took the unusual step of announcing its decisions about Mr. Schrempp and Mr. Bernhard yesterday afternoon, while a daylong meeting of its supervisory board and top executives was in progress at the Seagram Building in New York.

Because Mr. Bernhard has already been replaced in his Chrysler post, his future at DaimlerChrysler appears dim. Several people at the company said they expected him to leave.

RE: Down With Mercedes-Benz

As we all know a Lexus is a Toyota…

A Lincoln is a Ford…

And a Caddy is a Chevy…

They all use the same parts and the same designs and are built by the same people in the same place…only the names change…

When the only difference between a given Mercedes-Benz model and a given Chrysler model is a number for a name and a hood star, then down with Mercedes-Benz indeed. [V]
