IMHO: Save your money for something worthwhile, i.e., a college education. Besides, you can't live in a car, & it's only "stuff." BTW: with all due respect, who are you trying to impress -- yourself or someone else? [;)] Keep us posted. Good Luck!

RE: new and some questions

Hi Cpimp.

If this friend is that experienced he
should be able to custom mount most of
the gear and save you space.

You mentioned an Xbox and more.
Since this is a Luxury car you'll want
the install to look classy and worthy to
the car.
This means that quality materials and work
manship need to be used and not the cheap
stuff quickly thrown together.

Like the Xbox can go into the glove
compartment or under it but you don't
want it to look sloppy and cheap.
Custom?

IF you go with the indash monitor you might
need to modify the dash for it to clear
some obstructions.
A good DVD player easily costs you $300.
You also have to include install costs.
Custom?

Headrest and sunvisor monitors don't take
much space but will need work.
Custom?

I'm sure you'll want to upgrade your speakers.
And don't for get a nice subwoofer,because
what is a nice A/V system without sound?
You'll also need a nice amp to drive the
new speakers and a nice one to drive the
subwoofer(s).
Replacing the speakers doesn't take any space
but adding a subwoofer(s) and amps do.
Subwoofer(s) can go into the sparetire
well and the amps can go on the sides in
the trunk.
All neatly finished and properly wired.

Since you don't have a spare at that time
you'll need run flat tires just incase you
have a flat and you can get to a garage to
have it fixed or replaced.

Don't forget you'll need power wires and
interconnects to tie all these goodies
together,and you'll need a custom enclosure
for those subs too.
All this cost $.
I wouldn't be surprised that he charges you
for 75-100hrs of labor.
At $20/hr that adds up fast.

As for your Q.
IF the person is as good as you clame him to
be,then all this gear should be installed in
existing places and cavaties as to be as
unintrusive as possible.
Which should leave you with plenty or room
for all those honey's you intend to impress
and pick-up.

$5K huh? Sounds more like $10K to me.

Louis.

RE: new and some questions

PS:
I would get that college degree,
if I were you.
Because if you are going to take over
your fathers business and you address
your customers in the same language as
you use here,I can assure you that you are
going to loose customers.
And NO customers = NO bling-bling.

I know I make mistakes but my parents
left the US when I was 3.
I lived all my life in Belgium, did my studies
in Flemish and returned to the US when
I was 26.I'm 33 now.
I'm dual national so I'm American and
Belgian.
