MP3 Player

I am new to this forum and method - but have a question.

I have a 1999 SLK230. I don't have a cd player. I just have the radio and tape deck that came with it.

Is there a way to use my personal MP3 player in it? I tried using one of those things that connects it with a device that goes into the tape deck and it didn't work. Is there some sort of other way of connecting this?

Is there another way in which I could listen to music but not on cd? The MP3 player is an RCA LYRA.

RE: MP3 Player

Hi SlKOnE, this question gets asked a lot on the R170 forum - a lot of the threads are specifically for the iPod, but most really apply to any MP3 player. If you have the stock head unit, DickB who frequents the R170 forum has developed a plug and play adapterfor MP3 players that will be available around the end of March, check out this thread

Or go directly to

Some of the tape players are better than others. There are also wireless FM modulators but if you have a lot of FM stations where you are, they might not work so well. There are also wired FM modulators - hooks up directly to the antenna port of the head unit. I think DickB's unit is your best bet though as long as you are staying stock. DickB is also the designer of the remote vario roof adapter for the SLK.

Good luck. Let us know what you do...
