'96 C220 Alarm Problems

When I press the remote entry fob, both the red and green lights on the rear view mirror blink for approximately 30 seconds and then turn off. The doors lock and unlock, but something doesn't seem right.

Thank you for any information you have to give me.

RE: '96 C220 Alarm Problems

As A Mercedes Tech by trade I might suggest thinking simple first.I have run into several similar symtoms recently and both were as a result of a low voltage situation.First make sure your battery is good, this version of DAS 2(your ignition switch) is voltage sensitive, check battery electrolyte level ,if any doubt, replace first then recheck. Also varify that it is happening with both remote keys or not.If problem persists, will recommend a diagnostic at a repair shop.Early versions had control module issues and there are several Mercedes Technical Bulletins for your year range that may apply.

I have a C220 1996 and in the rear mirror there are two lights… one green and the other red…. But since I bought it (1 month second hand) I’ve never see those light work.. must they go on or blink in any way / condition?

Very best regards
