Climate Control Switches from Floor to Defrost

I just found this site today and thought it was interesrting. I purchased a 1998 E320 Wagon a couple of month ago. It had 49K miles and is in like new condition. A problem I have been having is the climate control fan will switch to deforst for 10 to 15 seconds, (usually when accelerating) and then go back to the floor. It is set on 70 and it is using heat. Has anyone had this problem? What was the solution? My mechanic who specializes in MB repair can not find a cause.

RE: Climate Control Switches from Floor to Defrost

This is not what I wanted to hear. I bought a 1998 E320 wagon two weeks ago (trading in my '87 300TD). I hoped they solved the climate control issues. In my '87, the climate control would spontaneously shift to maximum heat. Ten years of trips to MB dealers and independent mechanics never solved the problem. I hope this isn't a different version of the same problem.
