R129 SL with dual exhausts and lower ride

Hi,

I'd like to lower my 1999 SL500 and add the dual exhausts to it (on both sides like the new one). Is it possible to do? Anyone, please be kind to comment/suggest and point out of how about to be done. Thanks very much in advance.

Btw, also looking for a pair of AMG side skirts.

Best,
SL

The trunk floor pan is not made to accomodate dual exhaust. If you run the pipe under the pan it will not only look bad, but drag the ground when you lower it. Don,t think there are any bumper covers available with dual cut-outs either.

It can all be done, but would take extensive modification to trunk area, and you wouldn't be able to carry a spare.

RE: R129 SL with dual exhausts and lower ride

Hi,

Thanks for your input. I, however, have seen two of them out there with dual exhausts passing by. I have looked at the car and known exactly what you are talking about. I was hoping that I can put just one exhaust in the middle and run the pipe to both ends dual to lack of space on the passenger side because of the gas tank.

Also, I thought there are some exhausts out there that are relatively small so I hope they would fit.

To be honest, I don't know squad about cars (how to fix them). I just bring it to dealer every 3,000 miles and have them charge me an arm and a leg :-). I own two SL (love them), a 95 and a 99.

Sometime I thought of getting rid of them and get the newer model with dual exhausts but the sentimental thing that ... you get the idea.

Thanks much for your advice. I guess I am gonna keep digging.

Best,
SL
