RE: Find Info using VIN number??

when the car was purchased new the dealer should have provided you what is known as the data card, this has all your codes from colors int/ext, eng. #, trans # etc. card is about 3" by 6", all production codes are ptinted along the bottom and up top all component serial numbers even brand of tires car left factory with, if car not purchased new go to dealer with registration and I.D and ask for a printout

Post your VIN and tell me what you want to know. I'll see what I can do.

Question 300D number

I am trying to decipher the engine number from the block of a 300D. It was not the original motor in the car.( Owner upgraded from 240D in mid 90s)
#6170110901. I know the number should be 617.xxx but I can't find out how to read this one
