My father in law had the same problem with
his Hyundai a few years ago.(I know, don't ask).
At the time he told me that a few months before
he took the car to one of those quick lube places
and the noise started right after.

wrong doing, dealer asking $$$$ to just
Well, the next oilchange, we did and I noticed
that there is a little metal lip that somewhat
protects the cam lobe from foreign objects.
Yes, you guessed it, the lube place uses those
lube guns and when inserting it in the hole
they pushed the metal lip down in the path
of the lobe and when the lobe came up it hit
Bent the lip back up and noise was gone.
I don't know if this might be the same here
but if the service department uses the same
kind of gun then that could happen.
