RE: European Delivery Program
Picked up an S500 Sport in May. We had an airline delay but the people at the factory were very accomodating. We didn't get to take advantage of the hotel offer because of a time constraint. I'd do it again in a heartbeat and do the Black Forest Rallye. I hear from others that it is the best package.
If you go to Austria, buy your vehicle visitor pass ahead of time. It's a $100 fine if you don't have it. MB gives you 30 days insurance. If you stay longer, they can arrange for more. They can also arrange to pick up your car for about $400 almost anywhere.
One word of warning. Watch for speed traps near towns but carry CASH and an international driver's livense just in case! Keep cool if you get stopped. They'll try to get you for as much $$ as they can.
EDIT: Also, if you happen to be going early into a new model release when cars are allocated, it helps your chances of getting one since EU delivery does NOT come out of their allocation. You might even swing a better deal if you take two in Germany and turn one in immediately to sell back to the dealer when it comes in.
