I have a question regarding extended AMG warranty. I am new to MBZ (coming off of a long list of BMWs and Audis). From what have read, I have 2 options:
1. Purchase a CPO car. In that case, my only OEM warranty option is to by additional 1 or 2 years CPO warranty which, as I understand it, is not as comprehensive as ELW warranty.
2. Purchase a no CPO car with less then 50K miles. In that case, I could buy ELW warranty for up to 7 years.
Is this correct?
I am in the same situation. I have always been a loyal-BMW owner, but my wife told me she always wanted a Mercedes-Benz. So I went ahead and bought her a 2012 C250.
Now, er are in Germany and I miss being able to drive my M6 at highspeeds. I have an opportunity to buy a CPO 2012 S63 AMG with 40,000 miles and one-owner. I leave the dealership with a 12-month warranty, unlimited mileage.
However, I am seriously condering the 24-month extended warranty. I did the same with my M6, but never had to use it.
Would anyone like to advise if they think this is an unqualified concern, as I've read that the W221 is know to have many electrical issues. I am in Germany and have access to great mechanic, but they charge more to work on U.S. models, as many items are not standard in the German models (i.e. different COMAND module, etc.).
I appreciate any advice before I pull the trigger on a $68K purchase.
