AMG Longevity?
Hey guys, I have a question. I'm sorry if it's been answered, but today has been my first look ever at the AMG forums.
We've had, since new, the following:
2002 E430 Special Edition (sedan)
2004 CLK320
2006 C350 sport (now deceased - rest im Frieden, Klaus)
Just recently, we also purchased a 2005 E500 4matic (wagon) - CPO with only 25,000 miles on the clock.
My experience with this newest addition has finally gotten me over my mortal fear of buying a car that's anything other than factory-fresh (the 2006 350 had the most mileage on it of any car I've acquired - the odo read "8").
My question is this:
One of the big (4.3L, 5.0L, etc.) standard Mercedes V-8s is, in my opinion, just beginning its life at the 40,000-50,000 mile mark, but what is the longevity of the AMG engines?
A number of compelling AMG cars are on the CPO market right now that have 40,000-50,000 miles on them. This mileage and age gets wonderful machines like CLK, E, CL, and S 5.5L AMGs within my financial reach.
Are these cars, given their high-strung nature, near to being tuckered-out at that point, or is there as much useful life in an AMG as there is in a normal Mercedes (150k-200k miles not being extraordinary)?

its an amg, completely handmade engine by one person, they last longer than a regular mercedes. the m104 amg engine is in my opinion the best angine ever made. its so over done its ridiculous.
