I'll be buying my non-daily driver this time next year. Here are the cars that are on my list so far.
09 Corvette (Coupe or Convertible)
09 Cadillac CTS V
AMG C63
AMG SLK55
I lived in Germany (USAF) for 8 years so I have seen more then a few Mercedes. I never owned one though.
Now I'm in Utah and I'm considering a couple AMGs. I've always loved the style and performance of a Mercedes. I like the Corvette but there is too many of them. CTS V will be an interesting car (I had an 05 one before) but I worry about its reliability at times. Depreciation is also real bad.
I have always like the look of the SLK55 and the performance is amazing. I never considered one before because I always needed to buy a daily driver.
I've seen reviews of the C63 and it sounds like a real beast.
A couple things about the AMGs that worry me. Maintenance costs is one. Please don't say if you have to ask you can't afford it. The truth is that I can afford it but it is part of owning a car. The warranty is 4/50 correct? What is the usual selling price of the AMGs. I picture the C63 will be above MSRP when it comes out. Is the SLK still around MSRP? Has anyone dealt with the MB dealers around Salt Lake City?
A local dealer's website shows that they have a SLK55 so I may have to check it out in person.
Has anyone picked up their MB in Germany? If the Euro rate was not so crappy I would seriously consider it.
