Where did you import it to and what kind of work did you need to get it through customs?

Was the AMG work done by AMG-Japan?

Thanks for the comments - I import mercs from japan, so when this one came up I had to get it. Not too bad to get it through customs - my broker handles it

Have to sell another 500SL (non AMG) before I have the $$ to fix this one up.

Not sure if the work was done by AMG Japan or Germany - there's not much history available on these cars. It's definitely a beast though - MUCH sportier than a standard 500SL.

Nice indeed! Having had a 500E 6l Renntech in the shop not long ago I know what that car must feel like.. Triple digits come rushing @ you...Good times!

If you need a transmission that will stand up to that beast let me know.

jhodg5ck - I probably will need this one rebuilt - it's got a 722353 in it that feels pretty rough. Any idea what kind of price I'd be looing at? (ballpark)... to be honest, I doubt I'd be able to give you the job, as you're in Atlanta and I'm in Victoria BC - doesn't get much farther apart on this continent..!!

Well, I'd say around 3K US to give it a Full on build.

We actually shipped a transmission up that way about 4 years ago..a bit involved, but def. do-able;-)
