I've got a 2000 G and I'm trying to find a way to add an audio line-in to the existing stereo. I'm assuming the phone systems have some sort of line-in inorder to play the conversation over the stereo... if so does anybody have any idea how to access it... pin maps etcetera?

I have the wiring diagrams for the 2000 G500, but can't really make heads or tails of them. If you'd like to look them over yourself, I'd be happy to send them. They're PDF and in German; and there are several that are associated with the radio and the telephone. Let me know.
The phone lines often have other "baggage" attached to them. I'm not sure if it's this way in the MB or not, but when I worked on audio systems for GM cars, audio on the phone lines would automatically over-ride other system inputs and get output with it's own optimized EQ settings regardless of the audio system's current configuration.
Like I said, I don't know if it's that way on the MB or not, just saying be aware that a phone input may be something other than the equivalent of another line level input.
One interesting clue might be, is there a button on the head unit to switch to "phone" as a source, just the way you'd switch to "CD" or "Tape" or "FM"?

Yes, both on the radio and the steering wheel. When pressed on mine, it reads out "Function Not Available" in the display.
Oh, yeah, i already got a wiring diagam from Europa... it took a long time to figure it out... especially since the colors are abreviated in German,... and it is confusing... but i got enough out of it that i'll be able to wire into the speaker outputs for adding an amplifier.
Also, Mark Buyer at Europa told me that the phone system for the truck uses an independant speaker system... it's not through the stereo, so i'm out of luck.

What stereo is fitted to your 2000 G-wagen? Do you have a picture? If it has a TEL button the stereo, and the steering wheel has off-hook/on-hook buttons, then the phone system works through the stereo speakers and NOT through a separate speaker. The separate speaker was used for radios that did not have telephone integration (such as a dialing pad).
The bad news is, if your radio has phone integration, the audio is carried over fibre optic cables. Therefore, hooking your own device into it is pretty much not going to happen unless you plan on implementing an A/D convertor and the D2B protocol on the fibre ring.
