Tire Choice (MTR vs. TSL)

Hey there,

Few months ago you guys gave me some great info on building my G.

I have one more question now:

I recently bought SuperSwamper TSL tires and I wonder which would be better when the snow arrives. The TSL or the Goodyear MTR. Did you have any experience with those on snow?

Friendly greets from Bulgaria,
Krasi

Snow tires

Well, probably neither of them are very good snow tires. Depending on the local climate I guess, I am not sure how Bulgarian winters are. I live in Norway, and we can have 4 months of ice and snow, so choosing a winter tire is somewhat of an artform here. The most popular "normal" winter tire for the G is probably Bridgestone Winter Dueller. However, if you want a tire with a more agressive thread and pattern, the Goodyear MT/R is probably a LOT better than the swampers. Probably more efficient in ice and snow than the BFG MT or even the AT. If you're going to have lots of ice or packed snow, you might concider studded wheels, but they wear out fast and make a hellish noise and are lethal on wet roads without ice. I would also buy a decent set of chains for the back wheels.
