Has anynone noticed that not all G's (460 series) have dust covers on the front axle. It is not a case that they are missing. They were never fitted i.e. no threaded holes on the swivel housing. My 1989 230Ge is without them and my friends 1983 280 Ge is also without them. Has anybody got an idea as to why this is.

Dust covers? I don't think I've ever seen them on any G. What is it supposed to do?

I've never seen them on the G, nor does the EPC show them as available as I remember. Perhaps, someone sold them as an aftermarket accessory. On an off road vehicle, methinks they'd have the potential to collect a lot of trash.

My 1982 300GD does not have them either. Could not find the part on the EPC for 461 or 463 series either. I see the front axle manual shows a picture of one under 33.61 task 245. Its a bit of a mystery
