I've been having brake problems. Every now and then the brakes 'pump up' at the pedal. New master cylinder and one rear wheel cylinder and all air bled out of the system so I wondered if the valve that keeps some pressure in the rear lines was failing intermittently (clutching at straws) so ordered a new one. Original valve screwed directly into the 'T' piece that connects the front lines to the rear. New one arrived with two female connections where original had one male / one female. Dealer claims that my vehicle missed a factory recall to update this valve and sent rest of the modification kit - which consists of a length of straight brake pipe about 14" long. Does anyone know anything about this modification? I cannot see why the pipe is so long. To install the new valve in the original location I just need enough pipe to join the valve to the brass 'T' piece and on my (RHD) vehicle the 'T' piece and valve are located 'inside' the strut that locates the top of the shock absorber so there isn't room for this new pipe to be more than about 1" long. Any ideas? Is there a website that lists all MB factory recalls??
