Center wood cover

Could anybody provide some advice to take out upper wood cover of center console (463)?

I took out steering, slim wood pannel which is crossing the dash, Radio and some screws. I took out center console but I would like to take out the upper wood cover only from the center console to re paint.
Is it stick on by glue or clip?

This is only valid for my 300GE, MY 93, but because you did not mention your car, or model year in your profile, it is hard to say which 463 you have.

With the newer models it will be different.

Brian (and anyone else who hasn't done so yet),

Do yourself a favor and fill out your profile. It will help those of us who try to help know better what to advise.

Click on "My BenzWorld" in the upper right corner. Then, "Edit Profile".

Give us at least the year and model of your G. There are so many different kinds of G's that it's hard to help without knowing what you have. If you also tell us where you are located, it can be useful when it comes to advising sources for parts or other service.

that may be the case if you're the .....

first, who takes out the cover.
the plastic bolds on the back, you can (after that) easily leave out. this wood cover is fit and tough in the centerconsole only by sticking it in, and screwing on the top screews underneath the long wood peace across the dashboard.
another thing: take care about the lines for the heating. i think you can (have to) relaese them before you take out the centerconsole. that's done behind the glovebox, i guess. klaus????

hope could help
flo

Helpful hint: cut the wood strip now.

While you have the wood strip out, cut it into two pieces right were it goes behind the steering wheel (where the screw hole is).

Next time you will be able to easily remove it. I glued the phillips head screw back into place to ensure that the strip still looked like one piece.

The W140 models have a split wood strip from the factory, I don't know why MB designed it this way on the W463.

I didn't put the screw back in. That thing is useless.
