Took the G offroad on sunday ,lots of axle twisters in the mud . Had the rear locker in and out all the time
The problem is I developed a loud click / clunk from the rear other than the spring reseating what else could it be ?
I drove for a hour in 2wd home from the site and it was fine so I do not belive it is the rear dif ( thank goodness )

Is there anything else I should check ?

Tks Nick
when does it happen?

when you are rolling?

going over something?

When you engage a drive gear, or shift?

when you step on the gas hard?

Check your u-joints on the driveshaft.
Also jack up the rear axle and look for excess play in the diff.

-mserpe
The Panhard (spelling) rod bushings were dryed out in my G, and made noises like this whenever I went over uneven ground. They move a great deal as the axles rise and fall, and the body moves side to side. Once I replaced the old bushings, the noise was gone. Have you attempted to create the noise while parked, by pushing up on the body?

I agree with mserpe that if could be driveline related issue as well.

Thanks for the info , How do I check for play on the diff ?
The noise only came about when I was on rough terain since then it has been fine .
I am just begining to get a BAD feeling about this .

Tks for the feed back guys

Nick
