Thomas - Color Coded Brushguard bumper strips

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for showing you pictures and contributing to this forum...

Can you let us know how you got the silver colored bumper strips on your brushguard...does it come from MB this way? It seems they are only showing the black strips here in the US with either polished stainless or black infrastucture...

If you have any interior shots you care to post that would be great...don't know if you have black or grey interior...Also, do the rear headrests come off so that the seat can fully fold forward? The one I saw at my dealer did not seem to have an obvious headrest release and the cheap floor mounted drink tray would not allow the seat to fully fold due to the headrest hitting the holder. I hope MB did not just drill holes in the floor and use short screws to mount this 'drink holder'... I would think that this could result in rust in later years.

Last question...do you think that there is any channel to get to the G production line and have the drink holder not installed...it seems like it might not even be installed in Germany..perhaps it is done here at the VPC. This is not necessarilly a question for you but just thought I's ask.

Sorry for all the questions! Thanks for your time.

Frank

Re: Thomas - Color Coded Brushguard bumper strips

Hello Frank,

I try my best with my limited knowledge of English language to give some help.

- It seems they are only showing the black strips here in the US with either polished stainless or black infrastucture-

The black stripes are standard, I gave mine to a car paintworker! Cool, or ? No problem for them.

Interior:
I have grey interior.
This is rare, normally is silver outside and black inside. But the grey interior looks much more friendly to me. Much better to clean, too. I like it.

A very fine combination is - when you don't like silver - black outside and grey inside.

Try to send a picture.Hope it is well, I made the shot in the evening, but when you like to have better ones, I will shoot some more and will show them in the gallery here ( Depends on reaction ).

rear headrests :
Well , I have no problems with these, and I can't imagine that the US cars will have a different set up.

Normally there is no chance to get into the production line for these cars...
Re: Thomas - Color Coded Brushguard bumper strips

Thanks Thomas!

I like the photo and like the black upper dash with lower grey...it is hard to see the detail of the rest due to the size of the photo but it looks very nice...I think it would be a good choice for us with our big furry Great Pyrenees : ) Feel free to post more interior shots in your photo album : )

Very cool, the painting of the brushguard bumpers looks like an G55 AMG!

What other exterior colors have you seen...I was thinking of perhaps Black Opal with Grey leather...I really wish I could see the colors first...I think most will come in the Silver and Black...MB seems to like the Silver too..their brochure has almost all Silver G's. I would love to see a Dark Turquoise G...

Thanks again! Frank

Re: Thomas - I checked Photo album looks great

Just checked your album and the pictures look great...IF you get a chance and could take a picture of the rear seats fully folded forward from the rear hatch area...If it is too much trouble - don't waist your time if this is not easy for you to do.

I also noticed that MB did not put in the front and rear cup holders in your model...you are very fortunate! They are really doing some damage putting these in the US models and it is not near MB quality.

Take care - Frank

Color

Well Frank,
most time seeing a silver G-Wagon:
The reason is that this looks best on pictures. Details are the best.
Try to shoot a picture from a black car, very difficult from sharpness ........
I've seen a red G-Wagon with grey interior, also great. Maybe there is an option available, called
'Designo'
that means all colours are available for leather and outside colour. But very expensive.
One time I saw a G-Wagon in Daytona-Violet, a colour originally made from BMW for their M-5 cars.Great.
Unfortunately I haven't seen all colours and everyone has his own taste. I am not mad about silver but it is very practical, my old G-Wagon is black outside and grey inside and with that I found a new friend:
the guy from the car wash here .....

Have fun
Regards

( I will shoot a picture with folded rear seats and will send it to you directly )
