Hi, I have a 1980 230G and have recently run into a small problem. I just folded the rear seat up to find that once it clicked into place, I cannot get it down. This is the first time I have done this with the seat, and it probably has not been folded in some time. The little pull lever to release it just will not come out. I tried wrapping rope around it to get more leverage and got nothing.

It appears that my only option now is to un-bolt the locking device from the wall of the G-wagen. Does anyone have any advice on getting the locking mechanism un-stuck or un-bolting it? Is this a common problem?

Thanks a lot for any help, as I'm relatively new to Gelaendewagening.

-tom

I recently ran into the same problem, luckily I was able to eventually release the seat by getting a better grip on the release lever. You might try to have someone push the seat further forward (or back) to reduce the tension on the lever and that would allow you to pull it. Otherwise, the locking assembly is bolted to the body with only three screws.

Hi Tom,
get some Mo2 spray or the likes with a long nozzle - and a second person to assist. Lubricate the mechanics and have your assistant in the loading bay, ratteling and shaking the backrest quite forcefully while you´re working on the lever yourself.
It´ll come loose quite soon.
Repeat the procedure with the cushion if neccessary and keep the mechanism greased.
Best of luck - frank

Hi Just had the same problem myself
Try climbing in and sitting on the seat to push the pin on the seat down just that little bit more and the lever will pull out (It helps if your 14stone)
Regards
Andy
: Hi Tom,
: get some Mo2 spray or the likes with a long nozzle - and a second person to assist.
