[this was posted earlier, but disappeared during the transition to this new website]

Hello, all.
I need to know if any of you know anything about either of these three (see below) MB engine rebuilders.
I've decided to have my engine ('84 280GE) swapped with a remanufactured long block prepared as the higher output European car engine version (high compression pistons, hotter cam). However, I'd like to solicit input (viz., references, in effect) for selection of the shop from whom I'll procure the engine.
I've found three candidate outfits, each claiming years of experience on MB engines, quality work, and willingness to do the customizing:
1) NOEL's, of Winter Park, FL
2) METRIC Automotive Engines, of Canoga Park, CA.
3) EIS, of Portland, OR.
My question -- have any of you had any dealings with any of these companies, or heard of their quality. If you prefer, please feel free to e-mail me privately/confidentially.
Thanks very much to all, in advance.
Ken C. < KACPhD@aol.com >

Re: Any reputation on these three engine rebuilders?
Ken,
Also check out www.mercedesrecycling.com
They are in watsonville, ca
The motor is listed under Petrol, and it should be the 110.984, which is long block for 280TE 1977-1985
They are asking $4000 plus core, or $4700 without core.
They are warranteed for 5 years or 50,000 mi which ever comes first. This includes parts and labor.
I have not used them yet, but when looking around, I found that they were one of few to warranty the motors for more than a year.
Let me know what happens, as you know, I've got the same job planned for mine.
regards,
-mike
