Just had this problem in my 02' g500. Brought it to the dealer and they looked under the mats on the drivers side and messed with the wiring. They said that the wires looked corroded so they cleaned them up. I dont exactly remember what else they did but when I got it back my drivers side illuminated sill plate was not lighting up. It turns out that the little box that is located inside of the wall near the emergency brake went bad. It is the size of a cigarrette box or smaller and it is some sort of relay I believe. I dont know if this was the exact problem with the car saying the door was open or not but that was my experience with this. It is fine now and no problems yet. I hope this may have helped a bit.
I will check that out this weekend, if not before then!!! And any other recommendations anyone has!
Thanks guys... i'll follow up soon.
Do you have any problems with the interior light controlled by the drivers door?
There are door contact switches by the driver door hinges which control the overhead light and probably monitor the door status - I would have a look at those switches and make sure they are working correctly.
The only door which has micro switches (for status) at its lock is the rear door, if you want to keep the door open but turn off the rear interior light just snap the door lock into the close position but remember to "unlock" it with the handle before trying to close the rear door again

The interior light comes on when the door open alarm beeps, but i just turned the light to not come on when the doors are open.
The notification shows the door open is the front door, so i am not sure what you are referring to in reference to the back door? I can't drive with it open so is that process you are referring to something that will cycle the switches or something? do i do that with the engine on or off?
Also, you say the light/notification switch is near the hinge on the front drivers door, is that behind the kick plate from the interior is it something that is accessed with the door wide open from the exterior?

I do that with all the doors when vacuuming, etc. I was under the impression the 02+ cars (and the CAN bus) is where they got cheap and ditched the dedicated plunger in the door jamb for the microswitch in the latch/handle mechanism.
