I don't think there's nothing too special about the command system in the G (as there wasn't before either) so i would suspect you just need to do some careful homework on it if you want to get it to work.
Erik,

the steering wheel controls might be a bit different on the 2004 model, due to the fiber optic ring connection in that system. I can can change playing tracks on my ipod as it replaced the cd-changer, which only had a optical interface and power connection.

Question:

Can you display and track different mapfiles other than the OEM Kenwood ones?

I have a 2002 G500 and the cd unit in the command stopped working. I can no longer use the GPS because of this, everything else seems to work fine. Is there a way that you know to fix this? If you old command unit fits in a 2002 model I might be interested in buying it. Let me know, thanks.

I don't understand how this ONLY cost $400....the Kenwood system alone is like ~$1100....

Can you please clarify the costs? Did you get a special deal?

I was asked the cost of the installation, which was $400. The Kenwood unit was over $1000 by itself.

i have gotten a quote on installation of a kenwood dnx9140 and it was $625. I need to keep on looking around for better deal on install price. I can't stand my outdated unit any longer.
