Is a sticker in a doorjamb enough to register a grey market car?
Just wondering, as I have asked a few questions to some folks with Grey market import Gwagens, and some have paperwork, while others just have the sticker/label in the doorjamb that declares it legal for US roads...
Just wondering how difficult registration is if you don't have paperwork and just have the doorjamb label.
Entirely on your locality and the mood of the local DMV folks when approached. You'll know when you ask them. The local constabulary have all the power. Yours is but to provide the documentation they request and require.

Thanks in advance!
Why not save yourself the hassle and request a duplicate set from the EPA/DOT. Having these docs. in your G folder only adds conformation and should you ever decide to sell, they are key.

Good point AGR--I was just curious as far as believing a dealer who just says that the car is DOT/EPA approved, but doesn't have paper documentation on the procedures, only a plaque stating so on the car...sounds like a big risk if one doesn't have paperwork

Those stickers/plaques could be placed there by anyone, and don't mean a thing.

Two easy checks: 1. Does it have a catalytic converter?
2. Does it have a restricter plate in the filler neck?
These two items can cost you plenty at the inspection station if they check for them.[:(]

If your still interested in this particular G I would contact the Feds with the VIN # and confirm status.
