I just want to take a moment to say thank you to all for your support, suggestions, recommendations and just plain listening as I was going through the floorboard rust repair and restoring the interior of my G. Those may remember my "new owner nightmare" post the day I first brought this baby home. I havent driven it since I bought it, so today was special....I even got my headlight washers to work.
A special thanks to Hipine and Dutch for always having a ear and being quick on the keyboard....and Sean at Eurotruck for getting me all my parts in a timely fashion from rubber flooring, washer reservoir, door molding, gaskets, lens.seals, screws and bolts.
Now on to the underside and motor...changing all fluids and upgrading the wiring with weatherpacks.
Mike,
That's a really nice looking truck! It makes me kind of jelous, as I prefer the serious and practical look of the older G's front end, especially when compared to the newer squared-off bling-bling chrome-thing that's my G500.
It's good to know that you didn't let those little problems discourage you. Now go enjoy it!

Garret, Where's all the chrome on your truck? The only thing that approaches "chrome" on mine are the bright metal adhesive strips on the front grill and the V8 and G500 emblems.
When I replaced the grill after my wreck, I left the strips off at first; but later installed them because it didn't look right without them.

Yep, that would be it. Seven shiny chrome strips on the grill, plus it was originally delivered with chrome-plated wheels, which got changed before I took delivery. I've been considering taking them off like Belosch did. I've been too lazy though. Perhaps that's a good thing this time.
The color is original RAL 3002 Carmine Red...the sun was setting upon photo shoot.
I cant enjoy it too much till I get all the fluids changed, check out brakes and rebuild the rear difflock master cylinder (leaking). I am kind of anal about things being right and working properly.
I do remember your post. Congratulations on making it thus far! The car looks wonderful. I hope you enjoy the many days to come in trips and exciting new adventures with your G - well, just as soon as it's ready to roll again. [:)]
You've got some awesome country around there. That G needs to be out plying the deserts!
You can upgrade for ever. Get the fluids changed, sure. But as for the other stuff, don't let it keep you from driving it. That's where the real fun lies.
Do you have any trips planned yet? I think some friends of mine have had some fun up around Pyramid Lake. Does that sound right? Is it far from you? I've never been there.
Pyramid Lake is less than 30 miles from where I live, as well as the popular Sand Mountain with the quads and rails. I like pyramid lake backroads that lead you to the Black Rock Desert which is always fun exploring. I am not a sand dune person and stick to exploring mining camps, ghost towns and pretty much any desert road in these parts...like Colorado there are plenty.
