Dose any one know the purpose of this plug for sure?
I think it's for jump starting but not sure.
Could i run a 24v compressor off it or is there a better way? Anyone running electric compressors?
Padr
Showing the plug and a good bit of it's native surroundings would help. I have a plug below my right front headlamp, but that one's for the electric winch and is not connected to battery unless the winch switch is turned on, so mine has only limited use for a jump start (have to be enough juice in the battery to close the winch solenoid).
Anyway, when posting a picture, be sure to wait at the picture attaching page until you get the confirmation that your file has been posted.

That looks just like the power plug for the electric winch, although under the hood is a strange place for it. As to running a 24 volt compressor off of it, what's the voltage on those two pin receptacles?
Are you driving a W461? How about completing your profile with your G model and year, as well as where you're located - Ireland?
Padr - is this the LWB softtop that was for sale? If so you might want to ask Bill Moss or Quercus on UK forums. I think Quercus is intimate with that very car...
Perhaps for a webasto heater or some kind of military application...
