your thoughts, fog lights and cup holder

I was surfing e bay last night and ran across a link to a guy that has like 5 pages of mb parts for sale. Here is the link if you all need anything.

http://stores.ebay.com/fourbyfourclub-store_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZQ2d1QQdptZ0QQftidZ2QQtZkm

Anyway my guestion is this.

1)European fog lights. The yellow lenz ones. I have busted mine either bottoming out the bumper or rock chips, at any rate i need to replace both fog lights before more glass falls out and i cut a tire. My questions is, Do you think the yellow lenz will look ok on a usa model, also how well do they work?

2) 01 back cup holders.
He also has the cup holds that you attach to the door. I know they are for the 01 back models but has anyone tried to make them work on the usa models. Reason i ask is my center cup holder sucks. You put a drink in it and then when you try to pick up the drink the hole thing comes appart, Or the passanger hits it with there elbow or arm and then you have a big gulp in the floor. Also let not forget about the crap one on the side of the dash for passangers that sticks in your leg.

Anyway, any thoughts on this?

I'm actually thinking about de-cupping my G. The rear one is a pain b/c it interferes w/ the rear seat and the center console one is a spill waiting to happen. The net one is OK, but not of much use. Buy some, find a good location, try them out, and keep us posted.

RE: your thoughts, fog lights and cup holder

the yellow lenses are probably better in fog for the same reason the ricer blue headlights are specifically bad.... the cup holder, mechanically funky but they work... locations i have no ideas for you.

i am not the first person to post this but it bears repeating that this guy's prices are, IMHO, just plain silly. the exact same cup holder is sold by griots garage for $17, or less than half of what the ebay seller wants for it...

RE: your thoughts, fog lights and cup holder

I reciently watched a show about Greman cars and Driving in Germany and for a long time they did not put cup holders in their cars, it said they started to do that due to American demand. Reason for no cup holders???? When you drive YOU DRIVE when you drink you drink the two are completly different tasks.
Sorry I just have a thing with idiots eating/drinking/putting on makeup/talking on the mobile while driving. I have seen more people do stupid things because they are distracted doing these things...

RE: your thoughts, fog lights and cup holder

I understand that the American fad for cup holders came along at about the same time as drive in movies and drive through burger joints, so the original intention seems to have been some where to put your drink while watching a movie/ eating a burger or pitza while parked.
In Britain it is an traffic offence to drink, eat, use a mobile phone watch tv do your make up etc while driving and there have been occasions where to make the point a driver has been booked for doing such things, a woman recently was booked for eating an apple while driving.
Cup holders for passengers, well that makes sense, but the best ones I have ever had are great, mobile flexible fit any size of cup can or pint pot and I have one on the end of each arm.

Fog lights, I always found yellow ones the best, unless it was yellow fog.

RE: your thoughts, fog lights and cup holder

I like the fact my G was designed without those ugly things. On the otherhand, I wish it had them.

Hmmmm I wonder if I can take thin laptop-sized CDROM drives and turn them into an electrically retracting cup holder. [8)]
